During provision of health services, physicians take part in diagnosing abnormalities, evaluation of a patient’s health status , and prescribing medications . In the United States specialty has been well established ( Rhee and Rosenheck , 2019 ) . There has been an increase in the number of students getting into specialties than primary care. There are 58% specialists and only 42% primary care physicians. The change has resulted in the suffering of an underserved population . The maldistribution is as a result of the following reasons : -

The study was mainly concerned on “changes in U.S. medical student’s specialty interests over the course of medical school”. The outcomes of the study revealed that most of the students were intrigued in the specialties such as surgery, preventive medicine, pediatrics, and psychiatry. About 68% of the students were interested in specialty education on the other hand , o nly 31% were interested in learning primary care .
