In the second week, the focus was made on the concept of emotional intelligence (EI). Emotional intelligence is defined by Fianko, Jnr and Dzogbewu ( 2020 ) as the ability to recognise and regulate one’s own and other people’s moods in a manner that enhances performance at the workplace. This topic interested me a lot and showed the main elements of personal and interpersonal competence self-awareness, self-control, social awareness, and relationship management. These components are the foundation of EI and are useful in the management of social environments in both the personal and corporate world.

A rather shocking discovery of the week was that EI may matter more than IQ when it comes to success. Liao, Hu and Huang ( 2022 ) stated that EI affects behavior , performance, and relationships since it is a critical determinant. This understanding very much changed my conception of success, which is why I pay more attention to emotional intelligence than rational intelligence. This understanding is especially true in the contemporary global environment where communication skills can be the factor that distinguishes a good leader from a great one.
