The Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (BATNA), is simply a traditional negotiated theory that symbolizes the standard to which any agreement should be evaluated ( Dobreva , 2021 ) . Hence while getting ready for your negotiations, you need to determine to what extent you can compromise before getting to a point where you will regret having never negotiated at all. It may be termed as the most reliable option available to a negotiating party if negotiations do not succeed and the involved parties cannot reach an agreement. Managing complicated projects with a variety of tasks and stakeholders needs sophisticated negotiation abilities.

It is the responsibility of project managers to negotiate at both strategic and technical levels of project management; be it commercial terms, the project outline, or timelines. However, there is minimal research on negotiations in projects. To avoid barriers associated with negotiations during project negotiations, project managers are required to master the BATNA. BATNA is the major player in organizational negotiations. Project managers should be familiar with describing key players for the project scope, which is similar to thinking about the development of BATNA.
